Hendu

HENDU Hendu means «sand cloud» in the Poulaar language, one of those spoken in Mauritania. In this series I make an appropriation of the landscape through an action, a direct intervention on it. In this way, I generate giant sand clouds impeding a complete view of the landscape. This artificially-imposed cloud hinders the vision at the same time that it idealizes it, obscuring a reality that we do not want to see, one from which we flee. We prefer to stay in the beauty of the suspended particles of an almost monochromatic landscape. Behind them there is a painful reality that we want to ignore. In Hendu I aim to find something that is on the other side, even if it is through imagination, to intuit the invisible, because it will take us to other places. This way we realize that what can reveal our essence isn’t reason, but rather intuition and imagination.
