Hoist

HOIST Hoist represents an act of «salvation», an attempt at symbolic action to elevate, balance, envelop and shelter our natural environment. The images in this series depict different installations created on the banks of the Potomac River in Washington DC. Trees that have fallen naturally are raised again and placed in a balanced way on the banks of the river. Thus, the search for balance is alluded to as a political and personal action whose purpose is a feeling of harmony with our environment and, finally, with ourselves. On the other hand, the thermal blankets are used to cover each of the trees, which feed on water, wind and sun. The thermal blankets move with the wind, without control, their shapes free. We can’t control all of our actions, but we can take responsibility for them.

HOIST Hoist representa un acto de “salvación”, un intento de acción simbólica de elevar, equilibrar, arropar y cobijar nuestro entorno natural. Las 5 imágenes de esta serie representan diferentes instalaciones realizadas a orillas del río Potomac en Washington DC. Los árboles caídos se elevan nuevamente y se colocan en equilibrio en las orillas del río. Se hace referencia así, a la búsqueda del equilibrio como acción política y personal cuyo fin es un sentimiento de armonía con nuestro entorno y, finalmente, con nosotros mismos. Por otra parte, el empleo de la manta térmica para arropar cada árbol que se alimenta del agua, del viento y del sol. Las mantas térmicas se modulan con el viento, sin un control, con libertad de formas. No podemos controlar todas nuestras acciones, pero sí responsabilizarnos de ellas.
