Khorom

KHOROM The Khorom series mixes images documenting a solitary landscape with direct actions on it. Khorom means «saline» in Wolof, one of the languages used in Senegal. The orange color of the sand on the saline terrain served as a material to tinge some elements of the landscape. In this case, the salt flats’ centimeters of water were intervened only by shaking the sand. The water was naturally colored, agitating it, as if the landscape itself were being blurred. Wishing to fix my presence in it, if only ephemerally, I tinted the landscape with its own color, with no imposition, as if that water could exist with that hue. Through my intervention on the landscape, my solitude became aware of itself, becoming a transmitter of that feeling to the next observer.

KHOROM La pequeña serie Khorom (que significa salina en wolof), realizada en Senegal, mezcla imágenes que documentan un paisaje solitario representado por las horizontalidades dibujadas por las líneas de la arena, el cielo y el horizonte, con la acción directa en el mismo. En este caso, debido al color anaranjado de la arena, la poca agua de la salina se tintaba sola al sacudirla. De esta manera, coloreaba el agua de manera natural, agitándola como si desdibujase el propio paisaje. Queriendo fijar mi presencia en el mismo, aunque fuese de manera efímera, intervenía el paisaje coloreándolo con su propio pigmento naranja, sin imposición, como si ese agua pudiera existir con ese color. Y de esa manera, a través de mi acción sobre el paisaje, mi soledad cobraba consciencia de sí misma para ser transmisora de ese sentimiento al siguiente observador.
