Paraisos artificiales

ARTIFICIAL PARADISES Artificial Paradises is a photographic series carried out at stores selling artificial plants in South Korea’s three most important cities: Seoul, Busan and Daegu. Artificial Paradises aims to be a very specific paradise of its own. The tradition of reproduction/imitation that exists in Asia is part of its culture. The tenacity to achieve perfection, or the idea of perfection that one has of things, blurs the boundary between what really is and its perfect imitation. The electric colors of artificial plants and flowers fill every corner of their «fenced» world. Plasticized nature diversifies in all its forms until it converts air into synthetic molecules, but we continue to believe in the original nature and in our imaginations, substitute its artificiality for the essential of where we come from.

PARAÍSOS ARTIFICIALES Paraísos Artificiales es una serie fotográfica realizada en comercios destinados a la venta de plantas artificiales en Corea del Sur. Es una colección de lugares plastificados en las tres ciudades más importantes de Corea del Sur: Seúl, Busan y Daegu. Paraísos Artificiales pretende ser un paraíso propio y muy concreto. La tradición de reproducción / imitación que existe en Asia forma parte de su cultura. La tenacidad para conseguir la perfección o la idea de perfección que se tiene de las cosas hace que el límite entre lo que es y su imitación perfecta se borre. La idea de practicidad de las cosas hace que su carácter versado sea más poderoso. Los colores eléctricos de las plantas y flores artificiales salpican todos los rincones de su mundo “cercado”. La Naturaleza plastificada se diversifica en todas sus formas hasta convertir el aire en moléculas sintéticas, pero nosotros seguimos creyendo en la naturaleza de origen y sustituimos, en nuestra imaginación, su artificialidad por lo esencial de dónde venimos.
