Thermal Nature

THERMAL NATURE Thermal Nature is about the change in temperatures that is taking place on our planet through the use of thermal blankets as a photographic medium. The images show roots and branches in rivers, mangroves, wetlands, and river mouths, very sensitive ecosystems that are already affected by climate change. They are organized in diptychs that are structured in almost symmetrical patterns. Each fragment represents a hemisphere, tracing an almost mirrored scheme, but the symmetry is not exact. It is the hidden part that emerges and disappears due to the water’s descent and ascent, a hidden reality that is revealed to the eye by the movements of the water. When that reality is visible, it sometimes reveals sad elements: plastics, packaging and nylon nets trapped between the organic forms of the branches. Rivers move all that waste along their courses until they end up trapped. Their different forms merge into a tangled scheme, and everything becomes one. In the diptych this unique morass shapes the fusion of different materials, organic and inorganic, at the same level, to create a new composition.

THERMAL NATURE Thermal Nature trata, a través del empleo de mantas térmicas como soporte fotográfico, sobre el cambio de las temperaturas que se está produciendo en nuestro planeta. Se muestra a través de dípticos imágenes de rizomas a través de las formas de patrones casi simétricos. Cada fragmento representa un hemisferio que dibuja un esquema casi en espejo, pero la simetría no es exacta. Es más, muchas de las imágenes están realizadas en diferentes lugares. Son raíces y ramas en manglares, humedales, ríos y desembocaduras, ecosistemas muy sensibles que ya están afectados por el cambio climático. Es la parte oculta que emerge y desaparece por la bajada y subida del agua. Una realidad escondida que se hace ostensible al ojo por los movimientos del agua. Cuando esa realidad se hace visible, nos trae a veces tristes descubrimientos: plásticos, envases, redes de nylon, que se quedan atrapados entre las formas orgánicas de las ramas. Los ríos traen todos esos residuos, los desplazan a través de su recorrido hasta que quedan atrapados. Las formas de unos y de otros se funden en un esquema enredado y todo se convierte en unidad a través de una dimensión imaginaria. En el díptico, esta especie de maraña única configura la fusión de distintos materiales, orgánicos e inorgánicos al mismo nivel para crear una nueva composición.
