Palmehuset
Palmehuset means «greenhouse» in Danish. This project started at the botanical garden in Bergen (Norway), featuring both the wild and the structured inside the greenhouses. It is a three-year journey between the hot and the cold in mainly Northern European cities like Bergen, Oslo, Copenhagen, London, Edinburgh, Lyon, Vienna, Salzburg, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Lisbon and Madrid. These greenhouses, located within botanical gardens, artificially conserve species from other, distant worlds. On the one hand, nature’s struggle for survival is showcased. On the other hand, there is a structure created by man, an artificial, already established limit. In these places, however, this struggle seems to become a kind of coexistence. The pipes become roots, and the oxide of the metals is wrapped in green. The structure that contains this irrepressible nature gradually becomes organic. Some species grow stronger; some from soil, others from tiles, but they all evolve, in this way creating wonderful and unique shapes.
