Biography
Paula Anta’s work combines photography with installation. She usually works in series based on themes that she develops on site, most often in the form of staged scenes. The relationship between nature and the artificiality, together with history and voyage, form the core of her work which, from a conceptual point of view, is focused on depicting the significance of each landscape as a cultural fact in itself.
She has received major photography awards in Spain, including the Community of Madrid Culture Award and the Pilar Citoler International Photography Award, among others. In the field of installation art, she has received the 2nd Flora Festival Award.
Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally at major museums and institutions such as Tabacalera in Madrid, CCCB in Barcelona, the Sa Nostra Cultural Center in Palma de Mallorca, the Niemeyer Center in Avilés, and the DA2 in Salamanca, among others. Internationally, her work has been shown at the Nirox Foundation (South Africa), Donwahi Foundation (Ivory Coast), Dakar Biennale (Senegal), White Space Black Box Foundation (Switzerland), Nobel Prize Museum (Sweden). he trained and lived in Germany, earning an International PhD in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in collaboration with the Akademie der Künste in Berlin and Saarland University.
La obra de Paula Anta combina la imagen fotográfica con la instalación. Suele trabajar en series a partir de argumentos que luego desarrolla in situ, en la mayoría de las ocasiones, a modo escenificaciones. La relación entre la naturaleza y la artificialidad, la historia y el viaje configuran el camino de su obra, pero principalmente se podría señalar, que la línea conceptual del trabajo de Anta se centra en mostrar el significado de cada paisaje como un hecho cultural en sí mismo.
Ha recibido importantes premios de fotografía en España como el Premio de Cultura de la Comunidad de Madrid y el Premio Internacional de Fotografía Pilar Citoler, entre otros. Dentro del ámbito de la instalación, ha recibido el II Premio Festival Flora.
Su obra ha sido expuesta tanto a nivel nacional como internacional en importantes museos e instituciones como Tabacalera en Madrid, CCCB en Barcelona, Centro Cultural Sa Nostra en Palma de Mallorca, Centro Niemeyer de Avilés o en el DA2 de Salamanca entre otros. Internacionalmente en la Fundación Nirox (Sudáfrica), Fundación Donwahi (Costa de Marfil), la Bienal de Dakar (Senegal), Fundación White Space Black Box (Suiza), Nobel Prize Museum (Suecia). Se formó y vivió en Alemania, realizando un doctorado europeo en Bellas Artes por la UCM en colaboración con la Akademie de Künste de Berlin y la Universidad de Saarbrücken.
